Frequently Asked Questions

If I am enrolled at a 4-year university or another institution, can I earn academic credit 91ÐÔÏ¢¸Û for my internship?

Students must be currently enrolled in courses 91ÐÔÏ¢¸Û and must have completed at least one full semester and one course in their major of study at our college to be eligible to enroll into the work experience course (WEXP001).

If my internship is not required for me to complete my degree or certificate, can I still earn academic credit?

Yes, students can enroll into a work experience course even if it is not a requirement to complete their degree or certificate. However, internships need to align with a student's declared major and/or career goals for approval.

If you are an international student, please note that your internship or job must be directly related to your major to gain CPT or OPT approval. For more information regarding CPT and OPT processes, please contact the International Student Office.

If I have not completed one semester AND one class in my major 91ÐÔÏ¢¸Û, but have completed these requirements at another institution, can I enroll into the WEXP001 course to earn academic credit for my internship?

No, only students who have completed at least one semester AND one course in their major 91ÐÔÏ¢¸Û are eligible to enroll into the WEXP001 course.

I am being offered an unpaid internship that starts soon and I need academic credit to complete hours. How soon can I enroll into the WEXP001 course?

Congratulations! Securing an internship in your chosen field is an exciting opportunity!

In order to process enrollment for students to gain academic credit for an unpaid internship, our District must first establish a worksite agreement with the host organization. To get started, we must collect and review your internship offer letter and internship description. This process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months to process and may delay your start date.

Please submit the as soon as possible to begin the academic credit process for your unpaid internship.

*Note: Our District prioritizes compensated internships to ensure equitable economic mobility for all students. Unpaid internships are approved on a case by case basis.
